Terminology & Standards for Course Pages and Subject Guides

Here are the terminology and the standards we decided to use. Any additions (after discussion) will be posted here.

Terminology

-         Interlibrary Loan (not ILLiad, ILL)

-         OSU Libraries Catalog (not library catalog, catalog, online library catalog)

-         Databases (not journal indexes unless describing what a database is)

-         Summit (not Orbis-Cascade unless you are talking about the alliance specifically)

-         The Valley Library (not Valley Library) use OSU Libraries for general policies and procedures relevant to all libraries

-         E-journals (not online journals. Capital only at the beginning of the sentence)

-         E-books (not electronic books. Capital only at the beginning of the sentence)

-         Spell out abbreviations followed by a ( ) with the acronym.
