Digital Access Services Goals 2009-2010
- Investigate options for a future Integrated Library System.
- With the WorldCat Local Task Force (Faye, Terry, Michael), investigate discovery systems and make recommendation to LAMP.
- Work with University of Oregon (UO) on needs assessment for a future image management system. [NEW]
- Complete deinstallation of Innovative Interfaces' Web Access Management, WebBridge and Metafind products.
- Begin sharing Dspace development work with UO. Possibly host UO Dspace on OSU server and do upgrades, system admin for UO Dspace.
- Continue to work with UO to identify and implement shared services relating to cataloging, acquisitions, content and digital libraries. [NEW]
- Complete several withdrawal and materials movement projects including Reference, JSTOR, ACS, and Z classed titles.
- Automate workflows where possible. [NEW]
- Investigate completing the processing missing/review items. [NEW]
Cataloging
- Redo Marcive profile so that we receive more electronic records from agencies we collect from and ensure accurate holdings are set in WorldCat for all the items that we receive from Marcive, including maps. [NEW]
- Complete batch loading of government document holdings to WorldCat and processing of results in Millennium.
- Establish procedures, workflows, and responsibilities for electronic books including patron-selected ebooks, Safari, Springer, EBL, Kindle and other ebooks. [NEW]
- Establish use of ebook material type and globally update records accordingly. [NEW]
Digital Production
- Move 75% of scanning operations to Printing & Mailing. Ensure streamlined ingest and metadata workflow.
- Increase amount of faculty produced content in ScholarsArchive@OSU (SA) by 100%.
- Investigate automated loading of existing MARC records for digitized content to SA.
- Implement better statistics and reporting functionality in SA.
- Investigate options for implementing streaming and image zoom functionality in SA.
- Investigate implementing embargo functionality in SA.
- Investigate options for large-scale digitization of library books and journals that are out of copyright.
- In coordination with the OSU Press, investigate options for offering print-on-demand services for digitized books and journals.
- Merge CONTENTdm collections to UO instance.
- Complete loading of College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science content to SA.
- Complete item level description of Kolars materials for inclusion in the Middle East Water Collection. Investigate mapping and batch loading of Kolars books metadata and other related materials from catalog into Middle East Water Collection. [NEW]
- Increase number of submissions to SA another 5% in the coming year.
