The Guin Library staff operate OSU's marine science research library to provide access to its resources and facilitate usage of marine science information for research, teaching and resource management.
Customers
Primary customers are HMSC personnel including OSU faculty, students and staff. OSU faculty, staff and students located at the main campus in Corvallis are also primary customers, but with more limited demands on services.
Secondary customers are Oregon residents government agency staffs (particularly those located at HMSC including Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, USFW, EPA, USDA and NOAA), Oregon libraries, and marine sciences libraries.
Scope
We develop and maintain the existing collection.
We facilitate local and international access to the virtual and physical collection.
We provide services such as document delivery, inter-library loan, reference service and instruction. Technological innovations requires ongoing evaluation and upgrading of our services. a
We provide access to computing facilities for students located at HMSC.
We work towards supporting the three goals of the OSU Libraries Strategic Plan.
- Change the information landscape at OSU by providing faculty and students with the information they require - whenever and wherever they require it.
- Partner with OSU colleges and programs by contributing to the academic success and life-long learning of OSU students.
- Foster economic development in Oregon communities through partnerships.
