Innovation • Information • Service.
Along with our determination to contribute to the development, management, and preservation of knowledge, OSU Libraries focuses on making information accessible whenever and wherever needed. Librarians collaborate to develop unique tools enhancing information retrieval. User-oriented services help people concentrate on research and scholarship.

Information

OSU Libraries has many collections of note, providing access to original material or its digital equivalent on a wide range of topics. Partnerships with other universities and libraries promote expanded access to national and international information sources.

A collection of web sites developed to help citizens
and policy-makers make better decisions for Oregon's
natural resources. An invaluable tool for researchers,
scientists, educators and students.

ScholarsArchive - http://ir.library.oregonstate.edu/dspace/
OSU Libraries' digital service for collecting and preserving the scholarly work of the Oregon State University community. Ranked in the top 10 among digital repositories at American universities and top 20 in the world.

Linus Pauling - http://osulibrary.orst.edu/specialcollections/coll/pauling/[] This collection of 500,000 items spans Pauling's 70-year career as a scientist, humanitarian, and peace activist and includes Ava Helen Pauling's papers, evidence of their mutual devotion to world peace and to each other.

Innovation

Through the innovative use of new technologies, OSU Libraries is constructing cutting-edge, open source web tools. Library faculty are engaged in research that fosters teaching and learning, accessing and preserving information, and innovative services.

LibraryFind - A metasearch engine that searches across library catalogs, article databases, and local online collections. It's a great starting place for undergraduate research.

A web page publishing and managing system. where librarians can easily incorporate Web 2.0 features, like RSS feeds and chat, with traditional content like article databases, creating dynamic and customized resources for research.

Faculty Research feature - OSU Librarians have teamed up to develop solutions for updating and improving the learning environment in the Valley Library. After identifying and visiting current cutting-edge learning spaces, they will deliver a summary of recommendations in 2009. (jar)

We develop creative solutions to improve the user experience within the library and provide outreach services across Oregon.

Collaborative Learning Center - http://osulibrary.oregonstate.edu/clc/ This learning space in the Valley Library provides free, drop-in tutoring on a variety of subjects for all OSU students.

Information Commons - http://osulibrary.oregonstate.edu/computing In the Valley Information Commons, students find state-of-the-art technology and expert help from computer consultants, reference librarians, and media specialists all in a collaborative learning environment.

Our Little Village - http://asosu.oregonstate.edu/ourlittlevillage/ - The first daycare services for student parents in a university library. (for the new page - Students who are parents can now freely pursue their studies in the library, minds at ease, knowing that their children are in a safe environment.)
